Christmas Community Art Studio

In collaboration with art’otel London Battersea Power Station
Dates: 1st December 2023 - 5th January 2024

This December Nine Elms Arts Ministry have teamed up with art’otel to bring together artists, community and hotel guests in an interactive, festive installation that grows and develops throughout the festive period and celebrates the season - and the diversity and creativity of Battersea, Nine Elms. All this within the ar’tbeat studio of the stunning art’otel London opposite Battersea Power Station.

Giant Mural - Nativity Scene

The first and central part of the project is a residency by Italian artist Adalberto Lonardi from 1st – 9th December. In his unique and colourful style, Adalberto will create a giant mural depicting a modern take on a nativity scene, set in the heart of Battersea and Nine Elms. Battersea residents and visitors can sign up for exclusive two-hour slots on 1st, 2nd, 7th and 8th December to help Adalberto paint this unique artwork.

From 12th - 15th December we will be inviting other local artists - representing a range of cultures and faiths - to visit the studio and respond to the mural and the theme in their own style and media, to create an exhibition of work that will be on display for the duration of the project.

The studio will also be fully open to the public from 16th December – 5th Jan. Come along and take some time out of the busyness of the season, with some mindful colouring of Christmas cards designed by Adalberto. Or create your own response to the mural and other art – with the free materials provided.

There will also be a range of free festive workshops and events - see more info below!

Later after earning a master’s degree in interior design at the Royal College of Art, he has set up Adalberto Lonardi Studios with recent projects including collaborations with Foster + Partners, Wimbledon Foundation, the Venice Biennale, Southwark Cathedral and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
