Christmas Joy Advent Calendar 2025

In 2025, Nine Elms Arts Ministry was taken on by St George’s Nine Elms Church, part of the Battersea Fields Parish.

As part of St George’s community outreach, the church hosted the Christmas Joy Advent Calendar exhibition at the Battersea Power Station art’otel, part of a wider Christmas arts project organised by NineElms.org 

Working with local artists and makers, the Advent Calendar featured 24 individual artworks, each responding to themes such as hope, celebration and community.

Installed in The Studio at art’otel, the exhibition invited visitors to engage with the work at their own pace. The artworks spanned a wide range of media, including ceramics, textiles, photography and LEGO, offering diverse interpretations of the festive season.

Alongside the exhibition, a programme of artist-led workshops and craft activities ran throughout the season. Designed to be accessible to all ages, sessions included papercutting and Christmas cracker-making, offering hands-on ways for visitors to get involved.

More than an exhibition, the project created a welcoming space for connection during a busy time of year. By situating the work in a public setting, it offered opportunities for reflection, conversation and shared creativity, supporting St George’s Nine Elms Arts Ministry’s ongoing commitment to strengthening community and wellbeing through the arts.
